I'm a Christian - I'm for Gay Marriage
I’m a Christian that supports gay marriage.
I have been a Christian since I was a child. My faith has always been the thing that keeps me grounded, the lenses through which I see the world, and the most defining thing about me. It has always been real to me. Moving into adulthood has not made being a person of faith easier, in fact it became much more difficult. I don’t know all the...

Reflections on the Passing of Dublin Dr Pepper
I’m a Texan. Part of my Texas identity has made me loyal to Dr Pepper. I know the story of how it was invented (it was not by a man named Dr Pepper), and where (Waco, TX). I assume I feel the same way towards Dr Pepper like people from GA feel about Coke, or people from….well where ever Pepsi was invented I’m sure people are proud.
Sidenote: The PepsiCo and Dr...

Technology & Social Justice
It was about a year ago when the price of the Kindle dropped below $100. People were excited about how cheap and accessible the technology had become, but I started to question it. How can it be so cheap? How is it that technology is getting better, yet significantly cheaper? What kind of working condition and labor practices make this technology so affordable?
I did a few google searches,...

I am a Student Affairs Professional
I chose to be a Student Affairs professional.
I am proud of my career and my community of professionals.
I will not have my value determined by other areas of academia.
I will be able to instill confidence in my students, because I have confidence in myself and the path I have chosen.
To my fellow SA pros: You do not have to prove your legitimacy; that is a game you will never win. Go...

Things that are killing twitter (for me)
I realized recently I have become the old man Twitter user that complains Twitter was not was. I found Twitter as a great place to share information, connect to friends and colleagues, and discover great resources. I was an evangelist for Twitter teaching people how to use it, conducting webinars, and even drafting a users guide for higher education professionals. As Twitter grew so did the use...

Does the calendar really have to be so confusing? →
Honestly I never thought it was that confusing. You look at the Calendar see the date.
sciencecenter:
The dates fall on different days of the week every year. The months all have different numbers of days, with no rhyme or reason. There’s plenty of inefficiency built into the modern calendar. But according to Johns Hopkins astronomer Richard Conn Henry, that doesn’t have to be the case....
RT Without Context
Yesterday I found a link via the Twitter of people that complained about their Christmas gifts. The tweets are outrageous, greedy, and ungrateful but the responses are what shocked me. First lets backtrack: It appears this guy Jon Hendren (@fart on twitter) found people that complained about their gift, or more specifically not getting an iPhone, etc. @fart has over 14K followers so his RTs gave...
